====== About The Skippers ====== {{jason_y_norah_sm.jpg }}{{ family.jpg}}Jason was born and raised in Oakland, Maryland. In 1996 he went on a short term missions trip to Sucre, Bolivia, where he planned on staying for a year. He soon understood that God had called him to dedicate his life to the spread of the Gospel. Jason extended his stay, and after meeting Norah in 1997 in the Theological Seminary, they married in 1998. Norah is from La Paz, Bolivia. After two years of marriage, Erynn was born in March 2000, Jordan was born in January 2004 and most recently Derrick was born in November 2007. The Skippers felt that the best way for them to impact Bolivia was through the raising up and sending of leaders. That year, 1998, they planted their first church with a young couple who were in their last years of seminary. Over the next couple of years they planted two additional churches. Although progress was difficult during the first years, they were able to learn from their mistakes and refine and better their ways of reaching the lost and discipling as many people as possible for Christ. In 2003, the Skippers felt that God was leading them to plant another church, and in this one they would work with “Cell Groups”, small groups that meet weekly in houses throughout the city. They began reaching new people, inviting them to their home, and then they trained them to lead their own small group. As the Bible explains in Matthew 28 verse 19, we must go and make disciples of the nations, not just preach to them. Understanding this, Jason and Norah worked at teaching these new believers as Jesus taught his disciples and by implanting in their lives the same vision of changing Bolivia and beyond with the gospel of Christ. {{derrick1.jpg }}The Skippers took Jesus example, and with God's direction and help, were able to raise up 12 disciples. Now their 12 are in the process of raising up their own disciples, and even some of the disciples of the Skipper’s 12 are raising up their own. Their church, “Movimiento Crisitano Celular” (//Christian Cell-Group Movement//) as of November 2007 had just under 200 small groups, and is working hard on continually spreading the gospel of the Good News of Christ to Sucre, and eventually to all of Bolivia. Jason, Norah, Erynn, Jordan & Derrick continue their ministry there, and currently are looking at the possibility of extending their ministry to the USA very soon. ~~DISCUSSION~~
